When evaluating non-infill artificial grass, maintenance performance should not be judged only by appearance.
European and North American buyers can look for relevant test data covering:
- Water permeability
- Yarn tensile properties
- Tuft bind or pull-out resistance
- Abrasion resistance
- UV/weathering resistance
- Dimensional stability
- Seam strength
- Microbial or mold resistance where relevant
- Chemical emissions and restricted substances
For sports applications, relevant FIFA Quality Programme, EN and ASTM test methods may be applicable depending on the intended sport and project specification.
For environmental performance, European projects may also consider REACH-related restricted-substance testing, while North American projects can request relevant ASTM-based testing and project-specific chemical compliance documentation.
The key principle is to evaluate the complete turf system, rather than relying on one laboratory number.
