What to Look for When Buying Artificial Turf for Your Playground

Your playground turf should be aesthetically pleasing. It also needs to be rugged enough to withstand children’s play.

Luckily, playground turf is usually made from polyethylene or polypropylene. They are strong and UV stable. They also resist both heat and cold, which is a definite plus here is Texas!

Quality playground turf will also last a long time. In fact, if you take care of it properly, it should last up to fifteen years.

In addition to looking good, though, your ground cover needs to keep your children safe. Playground turf can help with that.

If your children are like most kids, they take risks. Big ones. Whether it’s climbing a tree or balancing themselves precariously on top of their swing set, children test limits.

In doing so, they risk falling and hurting themselves. It’s almost impossible to get them to stop climbing things. But, you can install playground turf to protect them.

With artificial turf, you can adjust its thickness and add a play pad underneath. That way, you determine the fall height of your backyard playground.

For example, if your children’s swing set is eight feet high, you can design your playground turf for a fall height of eight feet. Anyone (yes, that includes you) who falls from that height won’t get hurt too bad.

That’s definitely something you can’t do with real grass.
