Do Not Be Misled by “Higher Pile and Higher Density”

Many buyers assume that taller grass and higher density mean better turf. This is one of the most common misunderstandings in the non-infill turf market.

Pile height and density are visible surface parameters, but they do not fully represent field performance. Some low-quality manufacturers intentionally make the turf look taller and denser while using poor raw materials, weak backing, low-grade adhesive systems, or no proper shockpad. The product may look impressive in a sample book, but the real field may fail quickly.

Typical problems in low-quality turf include:

  • Fiber flattening after short-term use
  • Poor elastic recovery
  • Weak pull-out strength
  • Backing cracking or delamination
  • Poor drainage and breathability
  • Hard or unstable underfoot feel
  • High odor or questionable material safety

A good non-infill turf system is not created by “stacking more fibers.” It is created through balanced engineering.
