8 Artificial Grass Myths Debunked

From being too expensive to looking fake to being bad for the environment, there are a few misconceptions concerning artificial grass which simply aren’t true – and these myths may be stopping you from choosing artificial grass for your next project.

In this blog, we debunk a few of the most common myths surrounding artificial turf, so you can be confident that artificial grass is the perfect option for you.

1. Artificial Grass Is Too Expensive

One perception of artificial grass is that it is too expensive. However, an artificial lawn can prove to be highly cost-effective over the long term, and can even cost less than a real lawn.

Typically, a professional lawn installation will vary in price between £55-£75 per ㎡. This means it would cost £2,700 for a garden measuring 40 square metres, which equates to £180 per year for its 15-year life expectancy.

When adding the cost of lawn mowers, grass feed, fertilisers, pesticides, hoses, water usage, strimmers, and re-turfing required to maintain a real lawn, artificial grass is far cheaper than real grass over its full lifespan as does not require any of the above to keep it looking good.

So, whilst artificial turf is more costly upfront with the initial installation cost, the savings in time, effort and money spent on maintenance could save you money in the long run, proving that an artificial lawn can be more cost-effective than a real lawn.
